Remove Password Protection from PDF Using Adobe Acrobat Reader

This method assumes that you have adobe acrobat already installed,  if you don’t have, you can move to second option that talks about similar option through chrome browser.

  1. Open the password protected file using acrobat reader.
  2. It will ask you to enter the password
  3. Once the file is open, click on File » Print (Ctrl + P)
  4. Click on Printer option and select value : Microsoft Print to PDF
  5. Click on Print button.
  6. It will prompt to save you a new PDF file. This is going to be password free PDF.

Remove Password Using Using Google Chrome

Step 1: Open the Password-Protected PDF

  1. Launch Google Chrome on your computer.
  2. Drag and drop the password-protected PDF file into a new Chrome tab. Alternatively, you can open Chrome and use the “Ctrl + O” (Windows) or “Command + O” (Mac) keyboard shortcut to navigate to and open the PDF file.

Step 2: Enter the Password

  1. Chrome will prompt you to enter the password to open the document. Type the correct password and click “Submit” or press “Enter.”

Step 3: Print the PDF

  1. Once you’ve entered the password and the PDF is open in Chrome, go to the menu by clicking the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the browser window.
  2. From the menu, select “Print” or use the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl + P” (Windows) or “Command + P” (Mac).

Step 4: Choose ‘Save as PDF’

  1. In the Print dialog that appears, under the “Destination” section, click on the “Change” button.
  2. From the options, choose “Save as PDF” as your destination. This essentially allows you to save the PDF as a new file without the password protection.

Step 5: Save the Unprotected PDF

  1. After selecting “Save as PDF,” click the “Save” button to save the PDF to your desired location on your computer.

Congratulations! You have successfully saved a new copy of the PDF without password protection. The new file can be shared with others without requiring a password for access.
