What is the Redwood Page?

You’ve likely come across the term Redwood Page quite frequently recently, as it’s generating a lot of buzz in the oracle tech world. Not too long ago, there was another similar term, Responsive UI or NUX (New User Experience), that was on everyone’s lips. Back then, the transformation was all about transitioning from classic web pages to mobile-responsive pages. However, the focus has now shifted from mobile-responsive pages to a brand-new, modern user interface called the Redwood Page to enrich user experience further.

In simple terms, this transition involves moving from the mobile-responsive pages that most of us are currently using to a new modern page built using VBS (Visual Builder Studio). Oracle has named this fresh user interface the Redwood page. This shift represents a significant evolution in the user experience, offering enhanced features and capabilities for a more seamless and efficient interaction with Oracle’s applications.

How to Enable and Experience Redwood Pages?

As we observed in the transition from classic pages to responsive pages, Oracle has once again provided profile options to make the shift to the new Redwood experience. However, the pace of this transition is notably more accelerated this time. With each new quarterly release, a growing number of pages are becoming available on the Redwood interface.

To offer a brief overview of the significant distinctions between the Mobile Responsive Page and the Redwood Page, let’s examine the disparities in the Existing Absences page within Oracle Absence Management.

We now understand that the only way to experience the Redwood page is by enabling the delivered profile options. However, the next question that arises is how to obtain the list of those profile options for each page currently available on Redwood.

To access the list of all pages currently available on Redwood, you can refer to Oracle Document ID : 2922407.1

Although the design itself will clearly indicate whether the page you are accessing is Redwood or not, if you want to be very sure, check the URL of the page you are accessing, and it will have the term redwood.

For example, the Redwood page URL for Existing Absences will have the following URL: YOUR_SITE/fscmUI/redwood/absences/existing-absences/view-summary

Redwood Page Vs Redwood Theme?

Just remember, the Redwood page and Redwood theme are two different things in the Oracle Cloud application. While the theme enhances the overall look and feel of the application, the Redwood page focuses on specific page design and is independent of the theme you choose for the Oracle Cloud application.

Why it’s called Redwood?

Have you ever given thought to why it’s called the Redwood page? Oracle had also named one of its themes the Redwood theme. What’s the significance of this term ‘Redwood’?
